Reinventing the Sheriff’s Department

“The challenges facing the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and the public they are sworn to protect are tremendous. The last four years has seen the unsolved murder of Deputy Jeff Mitchell, several deputies being charged with crimes including murder, sexual assault on a minor and child pornography, the unprecedented lay off of hundreds of deputies, the gross miscalculations of millions of dollars in the budget, and the continued overspending that has caused many of the problems. It is time to reinvent the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and that reinvention must start at the top.

I will use my twenty-five years of law enforcement related experience as well as my political experience as a city councilmember and my management experience from the private sector to bring a commonsense business approach to rebuilding the department. I am uniquely qualified to be the next Sheriff of Sacramento County and I ask for your support.”
